Response to Brandy

I like your SBTE’s morning meeting style where the students greet each other in other languages or silly voices and share comments about what is going on in their lives. I think that morning meetings should be fun and introduce new ideas, such as languages, to students. You mentioned how your teacher always greets students with a smile which is something I feel is important to do first thing during the day. It lets every student know that it’s a new day with a clean slate and that the teacher really cares about them and wants to build a relationship with them. A smile can mean a lot to a child who is having a bad morning or may not have the best home life. What a great way to start the day off! I also like the amount of parent involvement you mentioned in the school community. I think it is important for the parents to be involved in the student’s school life. I agree with you that parent involvement helps students feel like their home life and school can be related which definitely builds a sense of classroom and school community.
